I've lost count of how many times I've heard a customer near me at the self-check at Wal-mart complain that a machine won't take their money, I look over, and it's in "cards only" mode (whether because it ran out of money or the bill dispenser broke w/e). These things force you to acknowledge that you are fine with it being cards only mode, literally asking you out loud if you wish to continue when you start the transaction. Hell there are people who get confused by the fucking pin pads. For those of you who think self-checks will eventually replace cashiers completely, don't worry. Definitely gets better when Scorpius shows up. Textbook magnificent bastard antagonist, and one of my favorites of all time. Only problem I have with the show is the ending is kinda hard to get a hold of since it was a movie.
